Kerala Day & Onam Celebration
Kerala Day & Onam Celebration
Kerala Culture Association (KCA) of Sudan in partnership with Embassy of India organized ‘Kerala Day & Onam Celebration’ on Friday, 09 September 2022 at St. Francis School, Khartoum.
The event showcased the culture of Kerala in India through a series of classical performances by talented artists from the Kerala community. ‘Pookkalam’ (the traditional floral carpet) was displayed at the venue. The legend of 'Maveli', the benevolent and egitarian King was also replicated during the performances.
.The event was inaugurated by lighting of the traditional lamp by Mrs. Maha Kheir, Prominent Sudanese National and the Principal of Holmes English Medium School, Father Jacob Thelekkadan, Dr. Anil Kumar Mithani, prominent Sudanese Doctor, Mr. Peter Rodriguez, Head of Operations of World Food Programme along with Ambassador Mr. Mubarak and his Spouse Mrs Latheefa Mubarak.
The event was attended by about 250. Representing Sudan-India Friendship Association (SIFA) Mr Abuobeida Abdullah, President and Mr Maher Ahmed Mohamed, Secretary (External) graced the occasion along with several Sudanese Nationals and members of the Indian community. Traditonal 'Sadya' was also served at the end.
