Diwali Event
As a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Embassy of India, Khartoum, in association with Indian Friendship Club (IFC) and Omdurman Indian Community, organized a cultural event at the IFC on 28th October 2022 to celebrate Diwali and the Indian civilization and linkages of Indian Community in Sudan. The event started with lamp lighting ceremony where Ambassador of India along with spouse and few distinguished members of the Indian community participated. The event was well attended by more than 600 Indian nationals, Persons of Indian Origins and friends of India. Spell-bounding cultural performances including dance, music and singing lasting around 90 minutes were presented by the Indian Diaspora. Indian foods, groceries, handicrafts etc. were displayed during the event. The Embassy also felicitated six prominent elderly Indian nationals from the community for their contribution towards the society. At the beginning of the event a special 'Human Chain' was organised to observe the week-long celebration of 'Rashtriya Ekta Diwas'.
