Celebrations of 69th Republic Day of India by Embassy of India, Khartoum
The 69 th Republic Day of India was celebrated by Embassy of India, Khartoum with gaiety and patriotic enthusiasm at the Embassy Residence on 26 th January 2018. The flag hoisting ceremony was held in the morning when there was an enthusiastic participation from Indian community and around 250 Indians attended the event. The National Flag was unfurled by Ambassador Shri Ravindra Prasad Jaiswal, which was followed by singing of the National Anthem by the attendees. The Ambassador then read out the Hon’ble President’s message delivered on the eve of Republic Day. Mission presented a brief Cultural programme including patriotic songs and dance numbers by the Children of Indian Community, Omdurman Indian community School and members of the Indian Ladies Club of Khartoum, which was well appreciated by the audience. The celebrations came to an end with refreshments.
2. As a part of the celebration, Ambassador hosted a Reception in the evening at the Embassy Residence. This was attended by nearly 300 guests which included 03 Ministers from Government of Sudan. Minister of International Co-operation, Mr. Idriss Suliman, was the Chief Guest. Dr. Hassan Abd Algadir Hilal, Minister of Environment, Natural Resources & Physical Development and Mr. Ahmed Saad Omer Khidir, Minister of Cabinet Affairs of the Government of Sudan also attended. Two provincial Ministers viz. Mr. Tariq Omer Mohammed Omer, Minister of Health, White Nile State and Mr. Ahmed Fadal, Minister for Tourism & Environment, North Darfur State, also graced the occasion. Ambassadors, diplomats, representatives of international organizations and prominent Sudanese nationals in the field of politics, commerce, academics and members of the Indian community attended the event. Mission organized a brief cultural programme during the evening reception also. The documentary films ‘A day in the life of India’ and ‘India Boundless’ were also screened during the event.
