Second Edition of ‘Bharat Ko Janiye (BKJ) Quiz 2018-19

With an aim to motivate overseas Indian youth to develop interest to know and understand India, the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, is organizing the second edition of ‘Bharat Ko Janiye (BKJ) Quiz’ through the web portal https://www.bharatkojaniye.in.

2. The BKJ Quiz is open to all NRIs and PIOs between the age group of 15-35 years as on 01st January 2019 (i.e. for those borne not before 01st January 1984 and not after 01st January 2004). There is no entry fee for participation in the Quiz. The criteria for deciding NRI Status will be as defined in the Income Tax Act 1961.

3. The BKJ Quiz will be organized in 04 (four) rounds. The first round of the Quiz (with 30 multiple choice objective type questions to be answered in a single session of 25 minutes) will be executed by Embassy of India, Khartoum during the period from 19-21 July 2018. The Quiz will be held in two distinct categories of NRI and PIO. The top three participants of the first round of the Quiz from each category of NRI and PIO, who will qualify for the second round, will be given Medals by this Embassy.

4. The second, third and fourth round of the Quiz will be executed by the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi. While the second round of the Quiz will also be online (with 60 multiple choice objective questions to be answered in a single session of 60 minutes), the third (Semi-final) and fourth (Final) rounds will be held onsite in India. 10 top candidates from each category of NRI and PIO from 2nd round of the Quiz will be invited for a 15-day Bharat Ko Janiye Yatra including Lakshadweep and to participate in the 3rd round. Government of India will bear international airfare and all expenses including hotel accommodation (4-star hotel on twin-sharing basis), local transportation (including airport pickup/drop), board and lodging for the participants during their stay in India. Participants will visit Delhi, Agra and one State for familiarization. The main elements of the visit could be:

(i) Visit to a University, College or Institute
(ii) Visit to Industries/visit to village
(iii) A one-day orientation programme in Foreign Service Institute, New Delhi
(iv) Visit to places of historical, industrial, cultural and tourist importance
(v) Interaction with senior officials, policy makers and opinion makers
(vi) Participation in Youth PBD at Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh

5. The online registration at the web portal https://www.bharatkojaniye.in is compulsory for contestants to participate in the Quiz. Eligible contestant can appear for the Quiz only once. Full details regarding the Quiz alongwith topics to be covered during first and second round of the Quiz and some reading materials are available on the BKJQ portal.
