Embassy of India organized a reception to celebrate the 74th Republic Day of India at Hotel Al Salam, Khartoum on the evening of 26 January.
Embassy of India organized a reception to celebrate the 74th Republic Day of India at Hotel Al Salam, Khartoum on the evening of 26 January. Her Excellency, Madam Ahlam Madani Mahdi, Hon'ble Minister of Investment and International Cooperation of Republic of Sudan was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
The event started with the playing of National Anthem of India and Sudan. It was followed by lighting of traditional lamp by the Chief Guest along with Mr. B.S. Mubarak, Ambassador and Mrs Lathifa Mubarak, spouse of Ambassador. A two-minute video on India assuming the Presidency of G-20 was played.
In his welcome remarks, Ambassador, talked about the historical relations between India- Sudan, India' s economic rise, assumption of G-20 Presidency by India, celebration of 2023 as the International Year of Millets, Scholarships offered by the Indian Government to the Sudanese nationals, India as a major destination for advance medical care for Sudanese nationals, deployment of an All Indian Women military platoon at the Indian Peacekeeping Mission at UNISFA in Abyei region and welcoming signing of Framework Agreement in Sudan. Ambassador also delivered his speech in Arabic language.
In her remarks, the Chief Guest H.E. Ahlam Madani spoke about the remarkable achievements attained by India and how Sudan could learn from Indians, she also spoke about the strong cultural relations between the two countries, appreciated the contribution made by the Indian community in Sudan. She also mentioned that more than one hundred thousand Sudanese have graduated from India and how India has become a preferred destination for Sudanese for advanced medical care.
Around 300 dignitaries including, Heads of Diplomatic Missions and International Organisations, prominent Sudanese nationals and businessmen, Friends of India and Indian community members attended the event.
