Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Republic of Sudan participates at the Voice of the South Summit -2023 on 12 January 2023.
On December 1, 2022 India assumed the G-20 Presidency and keeping in view the interests and priorities of the global South in key global forums, including G-20, India is hosting the “Voice of the South Summit” on January 12-13, 2023 in virtual format. About 140 countries of the global South will participate in this Summit and share their ideas. The two days virtual Summit has 10 sessions in total. H.E. Mr. Narendra Modi, Honourable Prime Minister of India, hosted the first session and inaugurated the Summit.
2. The theme of the session on 12 January was ‘Financing People Centric Development’ and the main topics of discussion included ‘development finance, avoiding debt traps, development aid and partnerships, achieving financial inclusion and digital public goods in financial sector.
3. Her Excellency, Mrs. Nirmala Sitharaman, Hon’ble Minster of Finance of India hosted the event and Finance Ministers’ from 15 countries, including Sudan, participated at the event and gave their valuable inputs.
4. During his intervention, H.E. Dr. Gibril Ibrahim Mohammed, Honourable Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Republic of Sudan congratulated India on assuming the Presidency of G-20 and praised India for hosting the “Voice of the South Summit”. He spoke about the challenges being faced by the people of Sudan. He also conveyed his admiration on the progress and development achieved by India.
