Embassy of India, Khartoum celebrated Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Day on 16 March, 2023 at Kanon Hotel, Khartoum.
Embassy of India, Khartoum celebrated Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Day on 16 March, 2023 at Kanon Hotel, Khartoum.
Ambassador of India, H.E. Mr. B. S. Mubarak in his welcome remarks highlighted the significance of ITEC programme for capacity building of scholars from partner countries including Sudan and gave a presentation on the ITEC programme. He highlighted the cultural and people-to people contact generated between the two countries through ITEC Courses and other capacity building measures offered to Sudanese nationals. Ambassador, Mr. B. S. Mubarak conveyed that Sudan is the largest recipient of ITEC scholarships in the region.
ICCR Scholar Prof. Eisa Bashier M. Tayeb, Vice Chancellor, Sudan University acknowledged the role played by India in promoting higher education in Sudan and narrated his experience of completion of Post-Graduation and Doctoral studies in India. ICCR Scholar Deputy Vice Chancellor of Alzaiem Alazhari University, Dr Ashraf Izzeldin Abdalla spoke about the progress achieved in India in various fields and how Sudan can benefit from partnering with India. Several speakers acknowledged India’s contributions in capacity building which in turn has strengthened the bonds between India and Sudan. Some of the ITEC beneficiaries also shared their experiences of their visit to India. Mr. Siddiq Bushra Al Fadil, Director, External Relations, Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research appreciated the role of Government of India in providing scholarships to Sudanese nationals and
The Documentary films on ‘ITEC’ and ‘India-Africa Partnership for Progress’ were also screened during the event.
The event was well attended by around 100 guests which included, Vice Chancellors’ of Sudan University, Al Neelain University, Vice Chancellor and Deputy Vice Chancellor of Alzaiem Alazhari University and several dignitaries, Defence personnel, ITEC Alumni members and media representatives.
